You’re only ever a short drive away from a trip up into the treetops at Go Ape Nottingham, so you can get your fix of adventure on the way to work or while taking the kids out for a day of fun. The treetop adventure park is just down the road from me, so I’m lucky enough to be able to make this part of my regular weekend routine. However, if you don’t live in Nottingham or are visiting Chesterfield then there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy this too!

My Experience at Go Ape Nottingham

My experience at Go Ape Nottingham was great! You get to see the beautiful countryside, have a fun time and meet new people. The course is also very challenging and physically demanding but in a good way.

Go Ape has high safety standards because I knew this from my previous experience with them (Tree Top Trekking). However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was to do something completely different from what I’d done before!

Relaxation & Chill Out Time

The perfect place to unwind and chill out, the Go Ape area has everything you could want on a leisurely day out. Whether you’re looking for a romantic break, family day out, or group outing we have something for everyone.

We’ve got a beautiful picnic area with tables and benches so you can enjoy your food in style. We also have a children’s play area so mum and dad can relax while the kids play under supervision in their specially designed climbing frames designed for children aged three years plus.

What to expect at Go Ape Nottingham

Treetop Challenge

The Treetop Challenge is rated as one of the most challenging treetop adventure courses in the country, with a difficulty level of 5 out of 5. It takes 2 hours to complete and has a height of up to 50 meters above the ground.

This course features over 70 different obstacles, 20 zip lines, and two bridges that you can swing across. There are also 10 rope ladders to help you get from platform to platform! There are five platforms on this course, so you can take in the incredible views around Nottinghamshire.

Treetop Adventure Plus

The Go Ape Treetop Adventure Plus is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, you get to climb up the tree and go down it again. On the other hand, you don’t get to zip wire down like with most Go-Ape routes.

So if zip wires are your thing, then this isn’t really for you. But if you’re looking for something different or if your arm strength is lacking, then the Treetop Adventure Plus could be perfect!

Treetop Adventure

A great way to experience what it’s like to be in the trees, you’ll be harnessed and given a helmet. There are three different routes to choose from; the easier one is the Forest Floor route. The intermediate option is Tree Top Trail. Finally, there is an optional Tarzan Swing at the end.

The courses are over 2km long with nine different obstacles including zip wires, rope bridges, and swings so you can test out your balance skills!

Nets Adventure

Nets Adventures are an exciting way to take in the scenery from above on one of their elevated zip wires. As you fly through the air, you’ll have beautiful views over some of Nottingham’s most iconic landmarks.

The Nets Adventure takes approximately 2 hours from start to finish and includes time for walking around our woodland glade while waiting for your turn. Please note that this is subject to change depending on weather conditions and other factors outside of their control. Please check before you visit if there’s any doubt they’ll be able to operate as normal!

Forest Segways

If you have never been on a Segway before, it’s quite simple. The Segway is a self-balancing electric scooter designed for one person to ride. You stand on the platform and lean forward to go forwards and backwards to back up. To turn left or right all you need to do is shift your weight onto the side that you wish to travel in that direction. It is as easy as riding an ordinary bike but without having to use any effort!

To turn left or right, shift your weight onto the side that you wish to travel in that direction. Their aim is for everyone who visits Go Ape Nottingham not only to enjoy their day. Also, to learn something new about themselves along the way!

After arriving at Go Ape Nottingham we were told we would be taking part in two activities: Forest Segway & Chill Out!

Zip Trekking Adventure

Zip Trekking is a great way to spend the day with friends, family, and colleagues. You can choose between their standard or premium zip lines or even try out their brand-new Zip Line Adventure Course.

Their zip lines are specially designed for each site so you can be assured you’re getting the best experience possible! Whether it’s your first time or 100th, we promise this will be one of your most memorable experiences!

Challenge Plus

Challenge Plus is the highest level of challenge at Go Ape and it is suitable for adults, children, and families. You can also enjoy Challenge Plus with your friends and make a day out of it!

Treetop Challenge Xpress

The Treetop Challenge Xpress is a shorter version of the course. This is designed for children and adults who are under 4ft tall. The low height and easy access make it suitable for all ages. Keep in mind that this is still an outdoor activity with uneven ground, trees, and natural obstacles like branches.

The minimum age requirement is 7 years old. If you’re under 16 years old, an adult must accompany you at all times during your visit to Go Ape. If there’s no adult with you, their staff will be happy to help find one!

The Plummet

The Plummet is a full-body harness that lets you experience the fastest way down its zip wire course. It’s also the only way to get back up!

You don’t need any experience or special skills to take part in The Plummet, just a sense of adventure and some self-belief.

The Plummet is one of several ways you can travel through their forest canopy at Go Ape Nottingham. We also have plenty of other activities on offer; including bridges, swings, nets, and ladders. So there is something for everyone!

Zip Line Experience

The Zip Line Experience is the longest zip line in the UK and it’s open until the end of October. The zip line is 550m long, 20m off the ground, and suitable for children over 8 years old. The zip line is an exhilarating experience that will have you screaming with excitement!

Axe Throwing

If you’ve ever wanted to throw an axe, then this is the place for you! Go Ape Nottingham has set up a safe environment where people can try their hand at axe throwing. All equipment is provided including protective headgear, ear defenders, and gloves. You don’t even need to bring anything with you besides some money or credit cards for your Go Ape experience.

Mini Land Rovers

Do you have a group of friends or family who would like to drive around the Go Ape course in Mini Land Rovers? Then their Mini Land Rovers are the perfect way to do it.

You can hire one of these Mini Land Rovers for 2 hours or 6 hours, and they come with an instructor who will make sure you have everything you need (and don’t get lost). You’ll be able to drive through all eight Go Ape zones. You can even take pictures from the top of some of their towers!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Go Ape cost?

The price of your Go Ape experience will depend on several factors. For example, you can choose to stay for one session or opt for the full-day package. Similarly, the length of time that you stay at Go Ape Nottingham also affects how much it costs. As well as this, there are several activities available at different prices. Some are more expensive than others depending on what they entail and how advanced they are.

The simplest way to explain this is by using an example: say I want to go with Go Ape with my friend but we don’t know how long we want to be there so we could either choose just one activity like Kangaroo Kourt or two activities such as Treetop Trekking & Zip Wire Safari combined with their Tree Top Course Session – which would cost £59 per person for two sessions (or £75 if booked individually). If the same group decided only wanted one session then it’d cost £32 each instead!

Where do we park for Go Ape?

Parking is free. There are several car parks, and they’re all on the edge of the woods. The car park closest to the cafe is where you’ll want to be. Go Ape is right next to it so you can get ready for your trip before heading out into nature. There are also two more small parking lots: one by the exit (if you need a quick stop before leaving) and one at Go Ape HQ (for gifts and gear).

Are there age and height restrictions for Go Ape?

Safety is the number one priority at Go Ape! We want everyone to enjoy their day here, so we do have a few restrictions:

  • Children under 1.3m tall must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Teenagers between the ages of 16-18 are required to have a paying adult with them.

If you’re worried about height limits and your little ones not being able to enjoy climbing trees and swinging on ropes, don’t worry! There is plenty for them to do here at Go Ape Nottingham without even needing to climb up or down anything. There are zip wires for all ages (except under 5s), rope bridges, Tarzan swings, and skywalks that are easy enough for anyone in their teens or above.

Should I book for Go Ape or just turn up?

If you’re looking to book a session, it’s best to do so online. This way, you can make sure that you get the time and date that suits you best. You’ll also be able to check for any special offers on offer.

If your group is larger than four people, booking is even more recommended as it saves people waiting around. While this isn’t essential, if there are any safety concerns, then it’s worth booking in advance.

And finally: Go Ape does ask guests who’ve booked sessions not to bring their food or drink with them because they want everything on site to be safe for everyone involved!

What should you wear to go ape?

When you’re ready to go ape, there are a few things you should wear:

Comfortable clothing. If you’re planning on walking in the woods and climbing trees, it’s best to dress in clothes that won’t get snagged or stuck on anything. This can include jeans, long pants (no shorts), t-shirts, and sneakers.

Don’t wear anything too loose or baggy. If something gets caught up in a tree branch while you’re swinging around (not unlikely), the last thing you want is extra fabric flapping around your legs!

Sunscreen! The sun shines brightly at Go Ape Nottingham all year round, so make sure to apply sunscreen before heading out onto the course.

When we venture into the playground, you’ll want to protect your eyes with sunglasses as sunlight comes through wooden beams. This is where players jump off a platform above ground level area onto the trampoline below which gives them a bounce back up again or fall depending upon how far away from the landing point.

Can I use my phone whilst in the treetops?

No. You will have to put your phone in a bag at the bottom of the tree, and you can’t use it during or after your climb. They are very serious about this rule!

If you want to take photos or videos while enjoying the views, then we recommend getting a small point-and-shoot camera that isn’t too expensive (this one is less than £50). It’s probably not worth bringing your fancy DSLR as there’s no way of keeping it safe during your climb and they’re quite heavy anyway!
